Lovely bones

I treated myself to some of Aileen’s artwork recently. It arrived yesterday and this Instagram photo pales in showcasing it’s splendor. But that’s for another photo session! 🙂 Currently, I’m trying to decide how to showcase it in our space. We have a pocket watch dome to display an old family timepiece but it’s brass so I started a search for something in a silver finish. It lead me to the discovery of this amazing timepiece, a Momento mori pocket watch.

‘Memento mori is a Latin phrase translated as “Remember you must die” (and the origin of the English word memento, which appeared as memento mori, “remembrance of death”). It names a genre of artistic creations that vary widely from one another, but which all share the same purpose: to remind people of their own mortality and the punishment they will receive if they transgress the rules of their religion. Skull form watches were popular during the renaissance.’

I found it on Stephen Bogoff‘s site via Watchismo. I’d love to know who has this in their possession!

The new IKEA catalog is out and I’ve seen this little awesome little number making the rounds on the Internet. I would love to have one, or even two, for the studio. It would perfect for keeping various bits I need in multiple places while working. Color me not surprised when Lara Rossignol, one of my favorite photographers, posted hers today and not only does she make me want it more but I see spy my favorite book… Geek Love!

It beckons

I’ve loved {most} Limoges boxes since I was a child. Mom gave me my first box several years ago, of a garden basket with tools and seed packets in the side pockets, with a tiny carrot and packet of seeds on the inside. We got the new Gump’s catalog the other day and inside I found this beautiful maneki neko, the lucky cat.

It beckons but… I’ll just have to admire it from afar.

Do Want!

The are multitudes of entertaining usb hubs for whatever strikes your fancy. Come to think of it, I personally have never seen a Death Star version. Anyway, I saw this today and it made me smile and add it to my wishlist.

Trailer Trash

We all have dreams, some big and some just the right size to make it easy to say ‘I can’. One of mine that I’ve had since I was a young adult is to one day own a ‘in need of love’ trailer. I’m very happy to be with someone with the desire and skills to apply that love to a tarnished beauty. We’ve put this dream on hold as we manage more important things in our lives at this time. As I was uploading some new images to my Flickr account I was reminded of a group that I haven’t visited in a very long time.

The Bees Knees

I so wished I had a couple of these to fill with some delightful beverage, sweetened with honey during the wedding! Bah, I’m still getting one! After we’re moved and settled.
