Bon Weekend.

This is Junior. He’s now the ‘man of the house’. I mentioned earlier that we had the most amazing holiday weekend in terms of July weather here. 5 breezy days in the ’80’s with a low humidity index. We spent a lot of time on the back porch. It was then that we discovered that Junior is bonkers for traditional Celtic music. We used to play it at the loft when we lived in Atlanta. Any tune with a fiddle or bagpipe, and most importantly a penny whistle, saw the old lover reemerge. He was full of the sound of ‘chirps’ and the gift of ‘love nips’ to everyone including Duncan, who received the most. Nice way to let him know how much he was loved by the other cats. 🙂

Here he is giving Duncan a kiss after a round of ‘love nips’.

Bon weekend, everyone!

Bon Weekend.

We are experiencing the most gorgeous day here in the Lowcountry. We received some much needed rain yesterday, and today is breezy and beautiful. We’re planning on stepping out soon to do a little planting but today’s exclamation of joy is due to what is in this photo…

Studio Update

All four lights have been hung and strung through the attic to the main box, which is where the fan is. The lights are on a dimmer and the fan itself came with a 5-speed control box. That was a little tricky to install, but as usual, Michael made it look easy. The fan sounds really cool as well. Kind of like a helicopter. It’s very pleasant in my book.

Now to turn on a little Latin Jazz…

Bon Weekend.

We’re being seriously stupid and trying to finish transplanting our plants today. We’ve read where it’s been 5.5° hotter this June than in previous years. That explains A LOT! I’ll leave you with a photo of some banana trees. Please stay cool!

Bon Weekend

We don’t have any photos of the new house to share just yet. We had a crazy storm move through here this afternoon, so I thought I’d ‘lightning’ things up with a shot from Michael’s old lab.

Bon weekend!

Bon Weekend

We’re closing on the new house as this post goes live! It’s going to be a crazy weekend ahead with tomorrow’s Lowcountry Artist Market and then moving all day Sunday, Monday, and the movers coming on Tuesday.

I’ll leave you with a photo of our summer table setting from last year to help soothe the very hot and humid weather we’re having.

Bon Weekend

I found this sunset photo we took at our old family home about a year and a half ago. I have no idea why we hadn’t uploaded it to Flickr before.

Bon Weekend – a trip to Fantasy Garden

Mom was feeling up for a run to a few nurseries this morning. It breaks our hearts that she lives in an world of incredible pain everyday, so when she says she’s ready, it’s go time! I’m so happy to be back in gardening mode while prepping for the move. We bought two hydrangeas at Rosebank Farms and then stopped by Garden Wise where we bought a gorgeous variegated hosta and a Farfugium japonicum ‘Giganteum’, aka the Giant Leopard Plant. The giant waxy leaves look like a tractor seat. They produce a stalk with yellow daisy-like flowers in the fall.

I follow a blog called ‘Garden Porn’ that is maintained by Michelle Derviss, who is a landscape designer. These are photos of the ‘Pina Colada Garden’ in Novato, CA. I believe this is her actual garden. It’s about as close to my dream garden as it’s going to get. I apologize in advance for the large file weight of the images, but I couldn’t just pick a few. I had a very difficult time narrowing it down to just these…
