Bon Weekend – The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee

Happy Friday! This just melts my heart…Willamena Bouvier.

not all kitties can do this

I was sent a link to this photo on I Can Haz Cheezburger. The original photo came from the The Itty Bitty Kitty Committee, which is a foster/adoption organization for orphaned kittens from the Tacoma/Pierce County Humane Society. They care for the kittens until they are old enough to be adopted, and then find loving homes for them. ♥

Have a wonderful weekend!

Bon Weekend – I pulled a Clark Griswold in the attic this week…

I had to take five from this project I’ve been working on in order to move stuff that has long needed to go up into attic before family arrives next week. It has a tricky little walkway from the main landing to a wider open area for storage. Now, I’m not sure who the braintrust was who decided to give the walkway a narrower plank, but not 15 minutes after I gripped I slipped and my leg fell through the ceiling, right next to the light/fan housing. Good news is that I missed a metal piece protruding from the light box that easily would have sliced open the back of my leg. Bad news is that we’ve had to cut out part of the ceiling to patch it before my uncle gets here next week.I’m going to have a whopper bruise on my inner thigh.I’ve been laughing my ass off since.

If only I had been wearing my headpiece, gloves and coat while I was traipsing around up there!

Bon Weekend!

We’ve had the most amazing weather all week and if finally feels like autumn around here! I thought I’d share this delightful photo of acorns by Etsy artist Tracey Capone.

Bon Weekend

Goodness, this week zoomed by! It’s been an interesting week. I uploaded the Look Book for the Indie Love market { <—look left<— } and they’re featuring wonderful artists this month, as always. Please take a look. We attended the launch party downtown for Weddings Unveiled Fall issue on Wednesday night at the Charleston Library Society. It was one year ago today that the issue we were published in hit the stands. The party was very well attended, so I’m thinking that is success for them!

It’s been a wonderfully rainy week! A much needed change in the weather.

Bon Weekend with the multi-tasker.

Yes, another photo of Malkie. But he makes me take pause, literally, when his paws are all over my work.

I thought I’d throw in a little detail shot that was previously featured on The Handmade Artist. Malkie usually lends a hand while I’m drawing patterns, either for costume projects as in the photo above, or when I draw my stitching guidelines for my products.

Bon weekend and see you next week! I hope to start the week off with a feature about our amazing friend, Kirk Burkett and his mind blowing absinthe cane!

Bon Weekend – Happy Blogiversary!

I’m definitely in the celebratory mood as this week was my one year blogiversary! I made my first post was on August 23rd, 2009, and I honestly wasn’t sure I would make it this far.

I’m slowly working on adding small design elements (and possibly another color) to the place. It reflects the style we created during our wedding planning process, and this has been an outlet to share our collaborations. I find that to be very pleasing. 🙂

Bon Weekend – Fabrigasm

I took mom out yesterday morning to look at fabric to cover our couch cushions. We’re getting the reupholstering done for free as we’ve given our little Carolina Skiff boat and my industrial sewing machine as trade to Rocky, the man who has done work for my mother throughout the years. After we collected several heavy samples at GDC, I headed straight to the silk remnants section to see what was ‘hanging around’. We’ve decided to use silk for the pelmet box we’re going to make for the dining room window, and we only need a yard to finish the piece. I also look at the remnants for my work. Higher end shantung will run upwards of $35.00+ a yard just for solid colors and remnants are market down from retail. I don’t need much for what I do and a yard will yield several pieces for me. I purchased some fabric for me and we headed over to Rogers Brothers. They’re now called something else, but they still have really nice stuff at lower prices than GDC. We hit the first remnant bin and found a lovely piece but it was only about a half yard. that wasn’t going to to be enough to finish the box. We found a table towards the back that had large samples on clearance. We found a couple colors complimented the main piece we liked, and grabbed them. I knew what didn’t work for the pelmet box would certainly work for me. We’ve selected two colors that will work for the dining room and I took these delicious pieces upstairs. I find these colors to be very inspiring!

New silk remnants

I had to use all my reserves to not flop on the table and roll around in the silk.

Bon Weekend.

Happy Friday! Today, I’d like to take a moment to thank my dear old trusty dress form. I found it about 8 years ago while I was on my daily walk in downtown Atlanta. It was in the window of a clothing store that was in the process of closing that location. I walked in, asked if they’d be willing to sell it. We haggled and a few minutes later I sprinted back through Centennial Park to fetch my car to load her in. She’s withstood a lot of abuse through out the years. I’m looking forward to many more Ms. Wolf!

Bon Weekend.

We had a pretty hectic day today, so I was unable make this post until late. I decided to google ‘bon weekend’ and then look at the images. I found this delightful photo!

I’m getting my virtual table ready at Poppytalk Handmade tomorrow and will post the info when it goes live, which will be Monday. I also have another exciting piece of news to share, but I’m waiting for everything to be finalized before announcing anything!

Bon weekend!

Bon Weekend

Yowzers it’s been hot here this summer! We’ve been under several heat advisories and today is no exception. There’s not much escaping it so why not revel in it? I’m going to pretend I’m in Greece today…
