Etsy + Whole Foods Market: Ingredients for Creativity

I was recently contacted about participating in the Etsy + Whole Foods Market: Ingredients for Creativity event this holiday season. I jumped on board and I’m very excited to be working on some of the store decorations as well has teaching three DIY tutorials. The first class (napkin rings) will be on next Tuesday. The other sessions are scheduled for December 9th & 11th, and I’ll share more details for those soon!

I’m honored to share this opportunity with the incredibly talented Kristen Solecki. Her first DIY class is today. She’s teaching a few more classes so be sure to check her Facebook page for her next dates.

For more information on this collaboration, please visit the Whole Foods and Etsy websites.

I’d also like to shout out a very hearty Thank You! to Allison, of SpaceCraft Studios, for recommending me!

Bon Weekend

It’s been a good week thus far. I received my letter of acceptance for the 2012 Charleston Farmers Market season and I’m thrilled to be returning! I also sold my sweet baby blue dragon tote this week. I gave it a great big hug before sending it off to it’s new home.

I’ll end the blogging week with some photos my friend Amy shared with me last night of an exhibition at the Oceanographic Museum in Monaco featuring Chinese artist Huang Yong Ping. The piece is called ‘Wu Zei’, a cuttlefish-octopus hybrid measuring 25 metres. It is hung over the museum’s main chandelier (known as Medusa chandelier) allowing the head to glow.

Have a safe and fabulous weekend!

Paint me a picture

Two new items in the shop today! Recently, I’ve been feeling the urge to paint. I have also been wanting to expand some of our silk screen motifs onto something that could be hung on the walls. I started with these two pieces, combining water color, silk screen and some embroidering. I’m offering these in the shop and will continue to post more pieces as I finish them.

Each image clicks through to they’re respective listings.

Monday, Monday

I’m very excited to share this new piece as it is the prototype for a new line in the shop. It will be available next week!

Pewter vinyl with a silk screened manatee and blue stitched lines. It is lined with a heavy linen/cotton blend fabric. The chain handles are upcycled from an old bag. The vinyl has an irridescent-like sheen to it so the manatee also changes color a bit.

I’m finishing another bag and will be in mostly full production with those and some other new items next week!

Look… I got something added to the new shop!

More to come…

Monday, Monday

Whew, what a weekend! Our night at Middleton (Thursday) as a lot of fun and we got some pretty decent photos. Friday was scrambling for various home things and to finish several pillows for the closing weekend of the Farmers Market. Saturday was a record day and it was sad to say goodbye to many new friends made during the season. Fingers crossed that we’re in for next year!

Here’s one of the few shots I’ve edited and most likely my favorite of the batch, antlers in the tanning shed.

I’ll have more photos online this week as well as some shop updates. I keep saying I’m going to update the shop and yet… it hasn’t happened. I seriously need some inspiration for the styling of the pillows when they’re photographed.

Monday, Monday

What a wonderfully busy and fun weekend was had by all. Saturday’s HCAF was much fun and I sold a few things. I mentioned to friends that I really don’t need to get attached to some of the things I make as I almost cried when this walked away with a delightful new owner. I’m busy trying to get more inventory ready for the closing weekend of the Farmers Market, coming up this weekend!

Here’s to a fabulous week! I hope to have photos of the newer pillows taken and uploaded to Etsy tomorrow.

Bon Weekend

I’m so very thankful that the issues in my last post were resolved quickly and rather painlessly. Michael is now the proud owner of a new phone (he’s like a kid with new puppy) and Best Buy exchanged the DVD player. Apparently they only have a 30 day grace period, including total failure, but they were more than happy to do it.

I have been working on a new round of pillows that will be finished tonight and hopefully be for sale tomorrow!

Have a great weekend.

The Happy Heathen on Etsy

I posted the bat garland update earlier and now it’s time to ‘officially’ share the new line of housewares I’ve been working on… sassy silk pillows! I really, really love making them and have a ton of ideas for the screens. I’m actually burning a couple after I get my social networking done for the day. Just click on the image below or just go the The Happy Heathen Etsy!

I hope you like these as much as I love making them.

Lowcountry Artist Market

I am taking a Saturday off from the Farmers Market on November 19th to participate in the next Lowcountry Farmers Market at the Music Farm. You can like their Facebook page and RSVP for the event here. I’m looking forward to being with fellow Etsy artists.

I will have the accessories that I’ve been working on for a while now as well as introducing some new products. I am going keep those under wraps until closer to the show date. Speaking of new pieces, here are a few that I’ve uploaded to Etsy. More behind the cut. (more…)
