Glossed over

I get frustrated with myself when certain projects take FOREVER to complete. I tend to have grandiose ideas but lack the follow through. Sometimes I feel it has to do more with not willing to make the commitment when something just doesn’t feel quite right. The guest room has been one of those projects. More specifically… the walls. We’ve chosen the color but I just haven’t been able to commit to the design for the shadow striping. This is the ‘doesn’t feel right’ element of the room. I also know I want a shiny colored ceiling in the room and am going with a minty-sea foam tint. I pulled the above inspiration photos to show Michael what I wanted when I started talking about SHINY. Upon seeing these images and others he was immediately on board, in stead of looking at me like …

During said search I came back to some of the original OMG images (and which I could not find online for some time due to brain hiccoughs) for the color palette. Lacquered walls are so very seductive. Michael is in agreement with me. I started asking myself if having two rooms side by side with similar wall treatments seemed a little redundant and perhaps we should think of another course of action. This same search lead me to the pattern I want to use on the walls, of course! Decisions, decisions, decisions!

We’ve decided which route we’re going to take and I’ve decided to keep it in the can until we’re finished. I’m glad no one is living in the room as it’s going to be a different kind of hot mess for a bit. I had the luxury of having Michael out of town while I went on a taping spree in the bedroom. We’re planning on painting the first ceiling coat on Monday. I so, so, so excited!

Stay tuned…
