Making Easy Snow at Whole Foods today

Etsy + Whole Foods Market: Ingredients for Creativity

I was recently contacted about participating in the Etsy + Whole Foods Market: Ingredients for Creativity event this holiday season. I jumped on board and I’m very excited to be working on some of the store decorations as well has teaching three DIY tutorials. The first class (napkin rings) will be on next Tuesday. The other sessions are scheduled for December 9th & 11th, and I’ll share more details for those soon!

I’m honored to share this opportunity with the incredibly talented Kristen Solecki. Her first DIY class is today. She’s teaching a few more classes so be sure to check her Facebook page for her next dates.

For more information on this collaboration, please visit the Whole Foods and Etsy websites.

I’d also like to shout out a very hearty Thank You! to Allison, of SpaceCraft Studios, for recommending me!

Latest work

I’m quite pleased with the work I’ve been producing over the last year and I am working on patterning several new prototypes (I’m keeping those under wraps at the moment) for the upcoming  Farmers Market season. I am also in the process of merging the two shops and moving them over the Big Cartel.

In the interim, here are some not so great photos of recent bags I’ve made. The top three are available for purchase if anyone is interested in them, please contact me at evita(at)thehappyheathen(dot)com.

Painted Planter DIY

I finally getting around to posting the process of the planter I posted not long ago, which was featured in Design*Sponge’s Painter’s Tape DIY Contest. The design was inspired by Solanum pyracanthum (if anything ever happens to it I’ll be beside myself as I can’t stop talking about it). While it is small now, we’re looking forward to the day it is large and bushy, and we found a lovely small blue glazed ceramic pot for it’s current home. I wanted the permanent pot to be as unique as the plant itself. Keeping with a complimentary blue palette I picked three shades of blue and blue/green for the chevron pattern. I also wanted to simulate the beautiful orange spikes in an abstract manner and I choose mint green and orange for those.

We found a Madagascar palm on sale recently and it’s the perfect plant to live in the pot while the S. pyracanthon continues to grow. Based on photos we’ve seen of Madagascar palms, we’re going to need a much larger pot in the not too distant future.

Sneak Peek – Painted chevron and spikes clay pot

Here is sneak peek at a painting project I worked on last week… which took a week to complete! I’m very happy with it and I’ll share the rest of the project in the next couple of weeks.

It’s in the bag

I’ve been terrible about photographing and sharing new inventory. This is one of the bags I finished for last weekend and took while we were setting up the tent. It was popular but sadly, it didn’t leave with anyone so I’ll have it with me tomorrow at the Charleston Farmers Market.

Turquoise glitter vinyl is my new favorite material.

Inman Park goodies

The Inman Park Festival was absolutely amazing as always! We had a pretty sweet spot and wonderful vendor neighbors. I had some really great response to the pieces I brought, which was a serious creative boost. I also took the opportunity to spend most of the earnings with fellow festival vendors. I’ll have to wait to post some (to share the vendor love) after they’ve been given to their new owners. First up is something I bought for Michael, a jellyfish cast in glass by The Amazing Jellyfish. They had a variety of colors and sizes and I selected the blue because it will most likely live in the guest room. An added bonus with these is that they glow in the dark. Michael is going to build a light stand for them and I’ll post images when he’s finished. We’re also going to do another black light exposure like our vaseline bowl. The other was purchased from a vintage/antiques dealer that sadly doesn’t have a website. I was originally attracted to the booth to ask about an antique perfume bottle and ended up walking away with the paperweight. I think they’ll be perfect together!

Yesterday also marked mine and Michael’s third anniversary! More on that in a few…
