Ever So Lovely

I’d like to say a big ‘Thank You’ to Brandi, from Ever So Lovely for featuring my shoes in the wedding wednesday :: green inspiration post.

EverSoLovely

Bon Weekend – with a side of awesomesauce.

Our copy of LOHAS arrived on Wednesday! I posted the mock-ups that were sent to Stacey a few weeks ago, and we were very happy with them, but it’s hard to fully appreciate it until it’s in your hands. The entire magazine is so, so very lovely, and we’re honored that we were the one of the couples chosen to represent the concept of a ‘green’ wedding in this publication.

Oh hai, I’m a published photographer now! The incredible Stacey Bode is a goddess, and this was one event she was working solo. Sadly, that meant that during the hectic afternoon with the venue and reception being a half mile apart, some photos didn’t happen because I didn’t manage to have things like having the invitations available for her to photograph. I was too busy burning my fingers with the hot glue gun! So I took that photo. 🙂

LOHAS Magazine

I’m waiting for Lily to share if there is any significance to the napkin/handkerchief she sent with the magazine, other than it being very beautiful. I opted to put it with my mother’s old napkin ring for this shot. We’re so tickled that they used one of our photos for the display on the right!

Some more of the magazine…
This is another couple that was featured, Colin and Mia.

The spread also featured the site, Green Union, which I’d never heard of before and I’m glad I did, and now I’m passing it on! LOVE the Maypole, we really wanted to have one for our celebration.

LOHAS Magazine Feature

Several weeks ago one of our photos on Flickr received a comment from Lily, who is an editor for LOHAS magazine in China, asking us if we were interested in being featured in an article highlighting green weddings. LOHAS is an acronym for Lifestyles of Health and Sustainability. After we received some more information from Lily, Michael, Stacey and I talked and decided to go for it! We were sent 18 questions to fill out and were requested to send about 50 images from our wedding, our day after shoot, and a few Michael and I took during during the preparations phase.

Stacey received scans of the feature, and they used a photo in another feature! Here are the images I ripped from Stacey’s site…if you want to see larger versions, please visit her post. Just click on those images to enlarge.

We’ll be receiving our copies sometime soon and I’ll take photos of magazine then.

Thank you Lily!

Bon Weekend.

I know it’s Thursday and all, but we’re bypassing our annual trek to Dragon*Con and getting on a plane this afternoon to head up to Pennsylvania to see old friends. We’re very excited as it’s been a long time since we last saw them.

Be safe this weekend!

Bellchamber Goldsmiths

When Michael and I were planning our wedding, we wanted rings for each of us that represented our passions. He did a darn fine job with my engagement ring, and we looked high and low for his wedding band. One weekend while he was in Atlanta, I was poking around the web when I stumbled upon the work of Jason Bellchamber and his team. I scrolled through the rings and saw the Green Man ring. I gasped and then I called Michael. I sent him the link and he was floored. Since I was purchasing his ring, I contacted them to find out if the green they used for the enameling would somewhat match the greens in my ring. I sent them a photo and they thought it would pair well. I sent them the money and they set to work on his ring. Michael wears a size 13 so it had to be custom made. They worked quickly and in just a couple of weeks it arrived. It was beyond our expectations. I can’t say enough about the service we received from them.

DIY Graphics

I’ve shown our invitations before, but I have never shown the idea I had for our address labels. Time slipped away from us while getting them ready to mail so we ended up addressing them by hand with a silver pen. I was very pleased with how they turned out. When I started brainstorming ideas for our ‘day after’ photo shoot, I decided to go ahead and mock-up how I originally wanted the labels to look.

Bon Weekend.

Our first wedding anniversary is tomorrow, on Beltane. Our celebration was on Friday, so today is indeed the start to a good weekend!

Handfasting Cord Tutorial

I’ve been meaning to post the tutorial of our beautiful cords made by Michael, and featured on Offbeat Bride.

A couple weeks back the photo of Michael’s boutonniere – on the right – received a comment from Mary Lorraine, a very sweet bride-to-be, asking how we managed to secure the acorns. I replied back with a couple tips and and voilà! She posted a photo of her version, and I think it’s really beautiful. You did a great job Mary Lorraine and congrats on your wedding!

Update: Mary also sent me a link to her sweet blog.

For Family & Friends

On the left – copies that are going out to family members that couldn’t make it to the wedding with a note from our parents.

On the right – copies that will go out to some of our friends as part of our ‘Thank You’ gifts. We’re doing some other stuff for them as well.
